Abstract

Nutraceuticals, a diverse group of products derived from food sources with additional health benefits beyond basic nutrition, have gained significant attention for their potential in promoting wellness and managing various health conditions. This report explores the health benefits, formulation and delivery systems, clinical evidence, pharmacological activities, and possible adverse effects of nutraceuticals. The integration of specific nutraceuticals – such as omega-3 fatty acids, probiotics, antioxidants, and adaptogens – into daily routines can help reduce inflammation, support cardiovascular and cognitive health, enhance joint and bone strength, and improve metabolic and immune functions. Advances in formulation and delivery, including nanotechnology and encapsulation, have improved the efficacy and bioavailability of these products. While numerous clinical and epidemiological studies support the positive impact of nutraceuticals on chronic diseases and overall health, potential risks and adverse effects, especially with excessive or unsupervised use, must be considered. The growing trend toward natural health solutions underscores the importance of nutraceuticals in preventive and therapeutic strategies yet highlights the need for rigorous research and regulatory oversight.
